How can drama be used to nurture social awareness among students, educators and the greater community? This interactive workshop is a place to playfully engage in Hip Hop Theatre activities and dialogue about empowering our educational communities to mobilize for social change!

Evan Hastings, Dramatic Educator, Creative Consultant & Performer
Evan integrates Drama Therapy and Hip Hop culture into his youth development approach to artistic healing. Evan facilitates drama therapy for groups, families and individuals at Thunder Road, a substance abuse recovery center for adolescents. Evan is the Arts Integration Specialist at Buena Vista School within Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center. As a teaching artist Evan works with Opera Piccola in Oakland public middle and high schools. As a member of Theatre for Change Evan facilitates weekly therapeutic theatre classes for men incarcerated for violent crimes, which is sponsored by Community Works.
